Prophono is a mixed vocal ensemble, based in North London. Prophono’s director is Mark Leicester, originally from Wellington, New Zealand. Prophono believes in putting on varied performances for audiences to enjoy. Repertoire ranges from carols, through madrigals and art song, to the great American songbook.
Prophono was formed from a larger choir assembled by North London singing teacher, Louise Langstom. Prophono began rehearsing in July 2004 and gave a first informal performance in August of the same year. The first opportunity for friends and family of the choir members to see Prophono perform in an extended concert setting came in December 2004 with Prophono's successful Christmas Concert. In June 2005 Prophono will be performing a programme of English music including madrigals and folk song arrangments.
